WASHINGTON – On Monday, September 21, Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17), Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, will outline his vision for the future of U.S. strategy toward China, including U.S.-China safeguards to prevent the loss of human control of AI, American economic competitiveness, effective deterrence, and the role of diplomacy in managing strategic competition. These remarks come three days before Donald Trump is scheduled to host Xi Jinping in Washington.

Washington, DC — On Wednesday, September 23 at 1pm ET, Silicon Valley Representative Ro Khanna, Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, will convene a first-of-its-kind virtual hearing calling for a U.S.-China agreement to responsibly pace the development of AI and to address shared risks, like loss of control and misalignment. The hearing comes the day before Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Xi Jinping at the White House

WASHINGTON – Today, Democratic Members of the Select Committee, including Representatives André Carson (IN-07), Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08), Jill Tokuda (HI-02), Tom Suozzi (NY-03), Haley Stevens (MI-11), and Shontel Brown (OH-11), questioned witnesses during a hearing examining policy tools used to regulate imports from the People’s Republic of China.

The hearing examined U.S. market restriction and import control policies, examples of how those policies have been used, and how they can be paired with industrial policy to strengthen U.S. manufacturing.

The hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 15 at 3:30 P.M. in HVC-215.
