Khanna Launches Investigation Into Fuyao Glass

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Ro Khanna (CA-17), Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) sent a letter to Fuyao Glass Industry Group and Fuyao Glass America and its affiliates demanding information on their operations in the United States. In recent years, Fuyao – the world’s largest auto glassmaker – has been subject to significant scrutiny for its control by entities in the People’s Republic of China (PRC), exploitative labor practices, aggressive opposition to unionization efforts, environmental and workplace safety violations, and rapid expansion into U.S. supply chains. Despite Federal authorities raiding Fuyao’s flagship Ohio facility in 2024, the company’s Chairman was seated prominently at the state dinner held during President Trump’s recent visit to Beijing in May 2026. Khanna’s investigation will help inform Congress as it examines concerns related to PRC investment in the United States.

In addition to his calls for information, Ranking Member Khanna additionally requests the opportunity to visit Fuyao’s Ohio facility and speak with personnel and workers directly.

“A growing body of evidence suggests that Fuyao may be engaged in a pattern of conduct that not only violates the rights of American workers, but that also implicates the economic and national security of the United States,” writes Ranking Member Khanna. “As the United States potentially considers welcoming additional investment by PRC-based entities following President Trump’s summit with Xi Jinping and the establishment of a bilateral Board of Investment, it is essential that Congress thoroughly scrutinize the case study of Fuyao to inform future legislation.”
