Ranking Member Ro Khanna: Trump’s Call with Xi ‘The Art of the Squeal, Not the Art of the Deal’

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17), Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, released the following statement in response to President Trump’s call today with Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping:

“President Trump’s call with Xi Jinping today shows again why his dealing with Beijing is the art of the squeal, not the art of the deal. He points to China’s soybean buying as proof of progress, despite volumes still trailing where they stood before he took office. He says nothing about China’s aggression toward Taiwan, support for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, or human rights abuses. Americans don't want to see another empty trade deal this April that fails to put our workers and families first,” said Ranking Member Ro Khanna.
