Ranking Member Ro Khanna Statement on Trump’s Failure to Rally U.S. Allies on Critical Minerals

February 6, 2026

WASHINGTON – Representative Ro Khanna (CA-17), Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s ministerial agreement on critical minerals and the limited participation from U.S. allies and partners:

“Trump says he’s securing critical minerals. But his alienation of allies and the entire world is doing him no service. Few countries signed onto his ministerial agreement despite mounting pressures from China’s control over critical minerals. Might it be because he alienated all our global friends and partners? To build trust with the world and secure the resources of the future, respect must come first,” said Ranking Member Khanna.
