WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, released the following statement on President Biden’s meeting with General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in San Francisco.

“I commend President Biden for his commitment to doing the hard work necessary to strengthen our relationships with our allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Today's bilateral meeting with General Secretary Xi is beneficial in helping advance American interests and holding the CCP accountable for its economic and military aggression, as well as its human rights abuses. In stark contrast to comments made last night by the de facto leader of the Republican Party, Donald Trump, who last night showered Xi Jinping with praise and adoration, President Biden has displayed a commitment to diplomacy, while upholding American values and defending democracy.”
