Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi Responds to Death of Alexei Navalny, Urges Passage of the Bipartisan National Security Supplemental Bill

Washington DC — Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), issued the following statement today regarding the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny:

 “Alexei Navalny dedicated his life to the dream of a free and democratic Russia, and it was because of that commitment that he died in captivity. Navalny’s life’s work and tragic death at the hands of Vladimir Putin serve as an inspiration for all those resisting authoritarianism across the world, both those struggling against it at home, and those resisting threats from overseas. The cause of democracy has lost a champion, and Navalny’s loss must also be a call to action in support of democracies across the world. I urge my colleagues to move swiftly to pass the national security supplemental to reaffirm our commitment to our democratic allies.”
