Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi Releases Statement on AUKUS Authorizing Legislation in NDAA

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) released the following statement on the inclusion of provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of FY2024 to fully implement the AUKUS trilateral security partnership.

“I am pleased to see the inclusion of authorizing language for the AUKUS security partnership in the 2024 NDAA. By authorizing the sale of up to three Virginia-class submarines to Australia, and simplifying the process for sharing advanced technologies between our countries, we are taking an important step in strengthening key U.S. alliances and working to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific region in the face of CCP aggression. The AUKUS partnership will expand our collective undersea presence in the Indo-Pacific, improve information sharing, integrate our industrial bases and supply chains, support American workers, and contribute to a more secure and stable world.”
