Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi On The Passage Of The Bipartisan National Security Supplemental Package, Including His Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act

April 20, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party issued the following statement regarding Saturday’s House bipartisan passage of the four bills of the national security supplemental package:

“I want to thank my colleagues from both parties for coming together to pass this legislation to support our security partners in Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and across the world while providing vital humanitarian aid and addressing threats posed by our adversaries. This demonstration of our commitment to democracies across the world will strengthen global security while directly helping to prevent any conflict with the Chinese Communist Party.

The inclusion in this package of the updated Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which I was proud to help lead through the House, is also a major bipartisan step forward in combating the national security threats posed by apps like TikTok by establishing a path for divestment. We’ve examined all options, and this bill is the only way to effectively address the threat. I look forward to the swift bipartisan passage of this package through the Senate and to President Biden signing it into law.”
