Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi on the Biden Administration’s Actions to Protect American Steel Workers from the CCP’s Predatory Trading Practices

April 17, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the U.S. and the CCP released the following statement on the Biden Administration's actions to protect American steel workers from the CCP's predatory trading practices:

“I commend President Biden for announcing a series of actions today to protect American steel workers from the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) predatory trading practices. We have seen time and again how the CCP uses unfair trade practices to dominate sectors of strategic importance, such as steel, aluminum, and critical minerals. Dependence on the CCP in strategic sectors not only undermines American workers and our communities, but it also creates strategic vulnerabilities that undermine our national and economic security. President Biden has shown historic leadership in spurring investments in U.S. manufacturing and aggressively protecting our workers from the CCP’s unfair trading practices. I look forward to continuing to work with the Administration to support American workers and address the unique challenges the CCP poses to the United States.”
