No Pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell: Congressman Krishnamoorthi Announces Resolution Opposing Clemency for Jeffrey Epstein’s Co-Conspirator
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), a senior member of the House Oversight Committee, announced that he will introduce a resolution declaring that Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted sex trafficker and longtime co-conspirator of Jeffrey Epstein, must not receive a presidential pardon, commutation, or any other form of clemency.
The announcement follows recent revelations that Maxwell is explicitly seeking a pardon in exchange for congressional testimony about Epstein. In a letter to the House Oversight Committee, Maxwell’s attorney said she would not testify unless granted immunity and stated that Maxwell would be “willing and eager to testify openly and honestly…if she were to receive clemency.”
“Ghislaine Maxwell directly facilitated the sexual abuse of children,” said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. “She was convicted in a court of law after a fair trial and is now serving a just sentence. The idea that her freedom could be traded for false testimony is an insult to the survivors of her crimes and a threat to the integrity of our justice system. No pardon. No commutation. No deal. Justice must never be for sale—especially to those who prey on children.”
The push to block clemency for Maxwell comes as the Trump Administration continues to stonewall efforts to release the full Epstein files to the public, raising further concerns about transparency, accountability, and possible political interference.
Maxwell was convicted in 2021 on multiple charges, including sex trafficking of minors, for her role in grooming and transporting girls to be abused by Epstein and others. She is currently serving a 20-year sentence. The text of the resolution is available here, and it will be formally introduced on Friday.
