Krishnamoorthi Warns FCC Decision Leaves U.S. Networks Vulnerable to Foreign Cyber Threats
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, issued the following statement in response to the Federal Communications Commission’s vote to reverse Biden-era cybersecurity regulations designed following the Salt Typhoon breach that impacted major telecommunications carriers last year.
“After the Salt Typhoon hackers infiltrated our telecom networks, the lesson was clear: we need to strengthen and build upon our cybersecurity safeguards – not dismantle them. Today’s vote moves us backward at a time when foreign adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party are escalating their attacks on our critical infrastructure. Rolling back protections without a stronger framework ready to replace them exposes Americans to greater risk. The FCC should immediately restore and reinforce these safeguards to keep our networks secure.”
