Krishnamoorthi: Trump Administration’s Decision to Authorize AI-Chip Exports to Saudi Arabia and UAE Risks Supercharging CCP Military and Strategic Ambitions
WASHINGTON — Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, issued the following statement regarding the Administration’s decision to authorize the export of NVIDIA Blackwell-class AI chips to Saudi and UAE firms:
“The Trump Administration’s decision to authorize the export of tens of thousands of the world’s most advanced AI chips to Saudi and UAE firms with deep ties to Beijing is an extraordinary national security mistake. Without guardrails or meaningful concessions, this move hands foreign governments – and potentially the Chinese Communist Party itself – access to the computing power that will drive the next generation of military might, scientific breakthroughs, and economic dominance. And once the CCP obtains access to our most prized technologies, the genie can’t be put back in the bottle. I am demanding an immediate briefing on this decision and how the administration plans to prevent American technology from accelerating the Chinese Communist Party’s strategic ambitions.”
