Krishnamoorthi Statement on New Evidence of Chinese Spy Facilities in Cuba
Today, Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), issued the following statement in response to recent claims indicating the People’s Republic of China is trying to spy on the United States from Cuba.
"It is no longer a secret that the People’s Republic of China is at our doorstep, no matter what the Chinese Communist Party or the Cuban regime claims,” said Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi. “Recent reports have made it clear: China and Cuba are working together to operate Chinese spy stations on the island – just miles from the U.S. mainland. I call on the CCP and the Cuban government to immediately cease any and all plans to expand espionage operations in Cuba. I also urge our allies and partners to recognize the security challenges posed by Beijing’s deepening foothold in our region.”
