Krishnamoorthi Statement on Beijing Display of Authoritarian Unity
WASHINGTON – Today, Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) issued the following statement about the recent gathering of Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un at the Beijing military parade, which was held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
“This week’s spectacle in Beijing, where the world’s foremost dictators are calling for a new world order in front of goose-stepping troops, must be a wake-up call for the United States,” said Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi. “As America’s adversaries unite against us, the White House is driving our allies and partners away, weakening deterrence and further emboldening dictators. We cannot be weak in the face of authoritarian aggression any longer and allow Putin, Xi, and their enablers to plunge the world into yet another era of conflict and war.”
