Krishnamoorthi Releases Statement on Beijing’s Escalation of Rare Earth Restrictions

WASHINGTON - Today, Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) issued the following statement in response to Beijing’s escalation of rare earth restrictions.

“China’s sweeping new export controls on rare earths are yet another reminder that Beijing is willing to use its control over critical materials as a tool of coercion,” said Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi. “By extending their reach beyond China’s borders, these controls assert extraterritorial authority over global industries – threatening supply chains and the technologies that power everything from vehicles to refrigerators. The United States and allies must redouble efforts to diversify supply sources, strengthen partnerships, and invest in domestic processing to reduce our reliance on the Chinese Communist Party for essential minerals.”
