Krishnamoorthi and Gallagher Issue Statement on Lu Siwei’s Forced Repatriation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and Congressman Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Chairman of the Select Committee, released the following statement on the forced repatriation of People’s Republic of China (PRC) national and human rights lawyer Lu Siwei to the PRC from Laos.

“We strongly condemn Mr. Lu’s forced repatriation and call on the CCP to confirm Mr. Lu’s location and well-being, and to allow him access to a lawyer,” said Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi and Chairman Gallagher. “These actions show how the CCP’s repressive tactics extend beyond the PRC’s own borders. We will not stay silent in the face of continued transnational repression by the CCP and call on them to end such practices immediately.”
